I am proud of who I am, of what I am. Not because I think I’m better than others, not because I think that my color, country, religion, company (or any other categorization you can make) is better than others.
In this day, when I remember the atrocities performed in the past, I think of the why. Why people fight, why there are wars, why… Today I had an interesting thought – many of these things happen because people are not proud of themselves, and they have to prove that they are better so that they can feel proud. How many fights happen because of Honor? Way too many. But what is honor? It is basically an external demonstration of pride, honoring someone else gives him pride. But if this person was already proud of himself, there would be no need to demonstrate his honor.
So no matter who you are, no matter what you are… be proud of yourself. And let others be proud of themselves also. There is no contradiction between the two.
