I started reading the book thief just as I started reading the black book. It was the next book in the shelf on the side of my bed. The book seemed fun to read, even though it is a book about the second world war. The back cover promised some fun since the book is written by death, and death does to have a good sense of humor in the book (and having read lots of Prattchet books lately, death does have a great sense of humor).
What a book. I’ll say that again: what a book. Death tells the story of a small girl 9 or 10 years old and goes for 4 or 5 years. The girl is the book thief, and is a small german girl in a small and poor town close to Munich. She loves words and their meaning and she loves books. “The Book Thief” created many feelings in me that a book rarely raises. And the book ends suddenly in a way that left me empty inside. What can I say… if I say more I’ll spoil the book, so that is all I will say. Read the book, but don’t expect a happy ending.
